Weight Loss & Nutrition
Lose weight?
What the studies say:
In Morocco, obesity is gaining ground. According to the Ministry of Health's latest
epidemiological survey on the prevalence of risk factors for non-communicable diseases,
conducted in collaboration with the WHO, obesity affects 20% of the population.
It was detected in 29% of women, almost three times more than men (11%). Obesity is
progressing more rapidly in urban areas than in rural areas with 22.8 and 14.9% respectively.
Over the period 2000-2017, this rate increased from 13.2 to 20%, which represents an
increase of almost 7%.
This increase was more marked among women, where the obesity rate went from 19.10% in
2000 to 29% in 2017, which represents an increase of 10% in 7 years. Among men, the
increase was less important, at 4% (7.20 to 11%). Among the factors involved are junk food,
malnutrition, sedentary lifestyle, lack of sports activity... Changes in eating habits are also an
aggravating factor (snacks, fast foods,...).
For whom, and how?
Faced with this, HMC offers an adapted program, whether for children or the elderly.
Knowing your metabolism and the reasons for this mass gain is essential.
Today, it is possible to prevent this by tackling risk factors such as poor nutrition, lack of
physical activity....
The prevention of excessive weight gain involves the adoption of a balanced diet and the
practice of regular physical activity.
